Historic Roadhouses
An example of an historic Roadhouse
Roadhouses were originally built to provide amenities to traders and gold miners in Alaska as they traveled along their routes. They were of great importance to the state, providing everything from general stores to meals to lodging. There are still a few to be found along the Glenn, including Sheep Mountain Lodge at Mile 113 and Eureka Roadhouse at Mile 128. Stop in for a meal at one of the historic Roadhouses and explore their history, while enjoying true Alaskan hospitality.Back to the Glenn Highway home page
