Chickaloon:A man kayaking whitewater rapids No prior experience is necessary to take the Glacier Run, which begins near Matanuska Glacier and features class II and III rapids, making it suitable for children and the elderly. For a wilder ride, class III and IV rapids are available on the popular Lion's Head, which starts at Caribou Creek. Float trips are also offered on the Matanuska River. NOVA River Runners, located in Chickaloon at Mile 76.5 of the Glenn, offers these trips and others and more information can be found at www.Novalaska.com.

Eagle River: Float trips and whitewater rafting on Eagle River is a great way to get close to nature in Alaska without traveling far from Anchorage. Just off the Glenn Highway, Eagle River runs through beautiful Chugach State park and offers amazing views of the countryside. For guided floats and rafting, go to www.LifetimeAdventures.net.
